So, tonight I get an intriguing random text from a friend:
"So, you play nerdy board games?"
How do you respond to that? Well, in my case, the response was:
"Will there be alcohol?"
The answer was maybe, which quickly changed to yes, since my presence in itself assures a minimum presence of wine and liqueurs. And then I got the text: "Ever played Settlers of Catan?" And replied, "No, but Elizabeth Banks has it on her site, so game on!"
Long story short, 4 hours, 2 malbecs and 1 bottle of Disaronno later, I *love* this game! Even though the second game I probably could have won because I had the monopoly on wool and also a 3:1 port, but didn't because I had done the majority of the drinking -- I still love it!
And I wouldn't have given it a try had it not been for Elizabeth and this site. That is my 2 am post-alcohol post-Settlers shout out.
And dammit, I should have played that Knight card earlier. So much ore...
