iVillage asked me - me, what?! - to guest blog on subjects interesting to women and moms. Well, most moms and women I know have used The Pill AKA contraception at some point in their lives. Have you? Well, here's a little story about how The Birth Control Pill helped me make a little miracle named Felix, my 12-month-old son. Check out my story on iVillage.com.

The thing that gets me is how people bash Planned Parenthood. If it wasn't for them, when I was 18-25 I wouldn't have had any kind of heath insurance at all. They help in more than just abortions and getting the pill! I will be a supporter of theirs for life! -

Planned parenthood distributes more 'pills' to low income women than anyone. And abortions ate as 'personal' as the pill. -
I know many women like you who needed the pill for medical reasons, not sexual ones. I don't believe it is the government's place to step into ANY personal area of our lives, including this one.
Now I am not an advocate for Planned Parenthood due to its administration of abortions, but I am completely supportive of preventative measures BEFORE sexual encounters for many reasons: what you discussed, to prevent unwanted pregnancies (and therefore abortions), to regulate the world's population, to have a baby when you're financially ready (I doubt anyone's completely emotionally ready!), etc.
