American Broadcast Journalist Walter Cronkite is a legend. So says me and Wikipedia so it's true. Listen to that voice - such authority! Take note, Williams! Out of so many awesome and incredible news stories he reported on, one was the very first Earth Day in 1970.
Did you know it was originally called “Earth Week”? Maybe we should have a week of celebrating this wondrous planet!
Check out the CBS News Special Report here. In 1970, they were worried about global warming and nuclear annihilation. Can you imagine?
How are you going to celebrate Earth Day?

Recalls a time when the mainstream media could actually run a legitimately socially conscious and constructive news piece without being accuesed of being 'left wing' or 'liberal' or 'tree huggers'. Mr. Cronkrite also helped peak man's interest in space and helped end the war in Vietnam through his relentless coverage. He is still missed. How am I celebrating Earth Day? Enjoying it while it lasts. Took a walk to the top of Hillcrest, saw the sun through the morinng mist, and listened to the peaceful sound of earth's birds.
