Steve is a writer at Letterman and runs Celebrigum.com. That’s exactly what it sounds like—celebrities with gum. Kind of weird; kind of awesome.
From a second floor window, he takes photos of celebs arriving and leaving the Late Show and in the foreground of each shot is an old piece of gum. He posts this with silly commentary and I was lucky enough to be the subject of this fascinating portrait on my recent visit as a guest on Letterman:
This photo went along with a Craiglist posting for missed connections. To that, here is my reply:
Flagman, I did see you, but I didn’t know if you would recognize me in my designer shoes and up-do. I look much different now than I did behind the steering wheel of the bulldozer. I wish you had said hello and of course I would have signed your orange flag from the construction days. I’m back in Los Angeles now, but next time in NYC, let’s pick up that conversation about overpass construction…
Watch my appearance on the Late Show talking about my new movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting and some of my school projects when I was a kid:
What was your favorite school project when you were a kid?

Living in Movie Heaven in L.A., and only a stone's throw from the former M-G-M studio (now Sony-TriStar-Columbia), I often see movie and TV stars on the street. They are just like you and me and the other guys. I've gone to see a few shows. You park on a side streat a few blocks from the studio, making sure you're allowed to park there, then walk to a long, growing line. I learned early on that it's wise to arrive about two-and-a-half hours early to get a parking space and a place near the front of the line. The last show I went to was "Dr. Phil." I'm not a fan of his, but my best friend is, along with many, many others. I got a kick out of how his staff coached the audience to applaud and scream! His wife, Robin, was quite attractive. I'd like to see Jay Leno sometime.... -
I bet people like David Letterman like interviewing you. They don't have to work to get a laugh :) .... But omg, your poor sister! First y'all go and leave her at a rest stop like a honkey cat , THEN show a picture of her prego in a wetsuit flashes for all America. Man, someone owes her a cookie. -
I enjoyed your story about the construction of the hot-air balloon, it was really fun. My funniest school project was the construction of a parachute with a big old umbrella. I wanted to emulate my dad, so I jumped off the second floor of a house being built on a mound of sand. Obviously, the umbrella broke, but fortunately I did not hurt, because the sand has cushioned the fall. At the end I even got some slaps from my mom. Sorry for my English, I'm Italian and i do not live in the U.S..
