Thank you, Jason, for this thoughtful, under-eye opening and personally revealing post. Xx EB

Huffington Post is reporting that Neil Patrick Harris has pissed off conservative news site WND.com (I have to assume it stands for “What’s Neil Doing?!”), for this Super Bowl print ad with which they claim CBS is pushing a gay agenda by using NPH, and allowing him to mock Tim Tebow, who’s famous for putting bible verses under his eyes.

Humorless WND doesn’t even take a moment to consider that he might be mocking Beyonce – a crime for which one can be sentenced to death within our LGBT community. So, missed opportunity for big news story there, fellas.

At first I didn’t even understand why NPH was in the ad. It’s not as if he’s hosting the Bowl, soft-shoeing it up the fifty yard line like Hugh Jackman at the Tonys. Or is he? Cuz that’s a Super Bowl I’d watch (rather than shame-eating brownies with everyone’s girlfriend in the other room while they watch Magic Mike. Again. Those girls are so disappointed it’s not my favorite movie ever.)
Then I realized it’s a CBS thing. “How I Met Your Mother” and the Super Bowl. One big happy family. Like NPH has—partner, babies, and all. But his refusal to stay in the closet makes him an “outspoken homosexual actor,” apparently. So being proud of your family is bad now, it seems. So many odd definitions to keep track of in the world according to WND.
Then I wondered why, if Tim Tebow’s such an icon for the heterosexual ideal, he’s so famous for what he does with his make-up. Maybe we should put him on RuPaul’s Drag Race and watch him try to contour the face of a 40-year-old man into something vaguely Christina Aguilera-ish. The right prayer might come in handy in a moment like that.
It’s too bad that WND doesn’t seem to have a POV on the shooting of Malala Yousufzai or the gang rape of that woman on a bus in India, but they find time to concoct this nonsense. Not that all news has to be “hard news.” I myself know a lot more about Argo’s shot at the Best Picture Oscar than I do about the fiscal cliff, but at least I’m pleasant to be around. Same can’t be said for those WND guys, and for that reason they’re banned from my Super Bowl party.
(Super Bowl’s the one with the footballs, right?)
How do you weigh in on this NPH vs. Christianity debate?

This is a non-issue. TT isn't the first one to write something on his eye black. It's just an NBC promo...has nothing to do with an agenda and people are reading way too much into this. -

He isn't the only one in the add. They also have Melissa Rauch, who plays Burnadette on The Big Bang Theory in one of the adds. CBS is using characters from some of their other shows to advertise that they will be showing the Super Bowl this year... -
Well said. Media hypocrisy reigns supreme these days. It's a real shame. I can only imagine what aliens would make of us from afar..
