There’s no better way to spend the 4th of July than at a BBQ with the grill going and a cold drink in your hand. One of my favorite summer drinks is Sangria. It’s summery, fruity, light, and refreshing. It’s punch in a pitcher! Whip some up for your 4th celebrations and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:
1 bottle of red table wine (you can go cheap and use box wine. No need to get fancy here.)
2 shots brandy or white rum
½ cup orange soda (you read right, ladies and gents. You can also use ginger ale or club soda, but I always wanna Fanta.)
2 heaping tablespoons white sugar
1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced
Any additional fruit that you desire. I like to add sliced fresh peaches and strawberries.

Directions:
1. Pour the wine into a large jug
2. Add sugar, lemon, and orange wedges and muddle slightly, releasing some of the juice.
3. Add the brandy or rum and any additional fruit and stir until all of the sugar is dissolved.
4. Refrigerate for at least an hour, ideally overnight.
5. Add orange soda before serving, pour over ice, and enjoy!
What are you bringing to your 4th of July celebrations?

July 4, 1776, Independence Day. The first liberal revolution. Happy anniversary America. I am Italian, but I love your culture and liberal belief. -

yum i love sangria and this recipe seems fun and easy to make! never knew you could use Fanta (which I love)...can't wait to try it out! thanks Elizabeth! -
Elizabeth¡ This is from my country¡¡ From Spain¡ Well, I'm from Catalonia¡¡ Here it's very popular too¡¡ At New Year's Eve I was in a fabolous restaurant and I drank 7 glasses from this¡¡ And, strangely, didn't affect me at all. It is very good, I recommend too, it's great drinking and delicious smell. -
yum! this looks so tasty, so excited for July 4. Maybe we should add some sparklers in there too! -
For an extra special treat, I sub out the Fanta for sparkling wine (or if you're really fancy Champagne). That's how my mom makes it and it is amazing! -
The recipe is fine, but it is incomplete. We must add three cloves and a few pieces of cinnamon bark. Ciao from Italy, and happy July 4
