    Happy Hour: Effie Trinket-Inspired Cocktail

Ms. Effie Trinket is no stranger to color. Do you think she’d ever be caught drinking a cocktail that wasn’t as bright as the polish on her nails? And so, in her honor, this Happy Hour post is decidedly Effie-esque.  It's a little variation on an old-timey classic: The Pink Lady.

This drink was invented during Prohibition and normally involves an egg white, but we’re going to ditch the egg white because Effie thinks it's gross. Don't worry, we added coffee cream instead!

    The What:

    1 ½ oz. gin
½ oz.  Grenadine (for the pink!)
    2 oz. coffee cream

    The How:

Shake well over ice. Strain it into a cocktail glass with a stem (yeah, like a martini glass). Garnish with a cherry or a sliver of orange peel. If you want to throw in some edible glitter for pizazz, no one is going to kill you. Then again, I don't know how President Snow feels about glitter.

    Cheers!

Will have to make these for my Hunger Games inspired birthday party this Friday night. That way Effie will be there in "spirit". :)

When you were playing Effie, and you were in all that crazy make up, crazy nails and clothes - did you feel like one of the a psychedelic version of a Stepford Wife? Sure looks like it! As for the drink - yum! But I don't drink gin anymore.
