I’m going to a wedding this same weekend or I'd be front row for one of my favorite American dance troupes: Diavolo.
I first witnessed the amazing acrobatics and crazy set pieces Diavolo is famous for at the 1996 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland! I have been following them ever since, and they never disappoint.
If you are a dude, this is the dance troupe for you. There are no tutus. With less than 20 dancers, it's an intimate production featuring amazing bodies flying around each other. The current show supposedly uses half pipes, but I've seen this troupe use giant staircases, skis, huge monkey bars, you name it.
Here's some video to entice you to support this incredible arts organization:
They travel the country so you can see them in a city near you! Check out their schedule here.
Were you ever wowed at a live show? Share what it was in the comments!

I just found out, they are coming to my town next year!! :) Thinking about taking my dad for his birthday. What do you think? -
"Here's who I've been stalking since 1996!"
.
I thought you were going to post the photo of you and Max and George Clooney at the Correspondents' Dinner! -
These people really earn their paycheck, in physical strength, technique, and tremendous creativity. I would love to see them live.
I have been wowed many times at performances. The first time when I was six and hear Emil Gilels play Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto with the San Francisco Symphony. I cried tears of joy it was so beautiful.
The next time was when I was 10 and I saw live mannequins in the window of a Joseph Magnin's. I stared at them for over an hour while my mother went off and shopped.
Then in June when we went to the brand new LACMA, and I experienced pure joy at seeing all kinds of stuff by Calder, Oldenburg, and other great Modernists. (Ok, it's not a performance, but it is art)
Then a couple months later at the New York worlds fair I was stunned by Michelangelo's 'Pieta' which was so beautiful that like hearing Beethoven, I cried.
After this is I was swept up in so much fantastic art, performance and otherwise that I'd be here for days writing. But for WOW! level performances here's a quick off the top of my head list...
"The Committee" at a North Beach club 1967, again in 1972
Creedence Clearwater Revival - 1969
"Inside the Moon" - Berkeley, 1969
"Max" (Gunter Grass), Stanford, 1972
...
The last time (I hope it's not the very last time) was in 2004 at SFMOMA and I don't even know what it was called. -

Watching this just helped me make my decision about going to the gym or not tonight! lol..amazing:) -
The video wouldn't load so I had to look it up on YouTube, but the video I saw looked awesome! I may need to see if there's any shows near me! -
The beginning of the video feels like a 90's Madonna Video for some reason. Looks super cool! They always make it look so easy...and of course, no tour dates near Ohio...nobody likes Ohio. Haha.
