Food Porn: Grillable Desserts for Labor Day

Aug 31, 2012 at 6:03am by Elizabeth Banks

On Labor Day, you’re only allowed to eat food that’s fresh off the grill. It’s the law. So, what to do about your sweet tooth? Here’s your answer:

    Grilled Fruit Kebabs

Cut up some peaches, bananas, mangoes, figs, and strawberries, and put ‘em on a stick. Brush kebabs with honey or roll them in sugar and throw on the grill for a fruity, syrupy delight. If you put this whole thing on a scoop of vanilla ice cream, you get bonus points.

    Grilled Polenda

Polenta is normally served alongside veggies and meat, but this sweetened version is made with brown sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom. And it’s served with grilled, balsamic-glazed plums. Yes, please.

    Grilled Butter Rum Poundcake

Uhh I just forgot about the fruit kebabs. Betty Crocker gets my prize for best grilled dessert with this decadent sounding cake.

What desserts would you throw on the grill?

The recipe I have for fruit kebabs, you brush them with dark rum. Then your sprinkle them with cinnamon and nutmeg, then roll them in powdered sugar. A-MAZE. :)
