    Easy-Peasy Looks for Fall 2012

    Sep 12, 2012 at 6:11am by Alissa M

EhYJkp7yyS5zCKbpmvWyZTSf.jpeg:Amazon:photoI’m a bit of a makeup junkie. Perhaps I should enter a 12-step program. So, when my friends come to me asking for my thoughts on what they should try/do/use, you better believe I’m a fountain of answers.

“So, Alissa, what should I be wearing for fall?”

I’ve scoped the magazines and the catwalk reviews to find discover fall’s hot makeup trends. While many of these looks are not new, they carry over into fall with slight differences. These are:

    1. Jewel-toned eyeshadow especially purple
    2. Fresh faces
    3. Winged eyeliner

So, how do you get these looks? I’ll show you. You don’t have to be a makeup expert either. I kept these so simple a kitten could do it. (Ok, no? But, they are cute.) I’ve created two looks that are simple and wearable. Red carpet glamour is gorgeous, I don’t want look like that everyday - and neither should you.

Michelle is a gorgeous girl, and I didn’t have to do a lot of work to make her glow. She’s already got the pregnant momma glow going on hardcore. Michelle brought her own favorite foundation. Cuz you know when a girl finds one she likes, it’s hard to pull it away!

See? Simple and fresh faced. I simply used her Urban Decay Naked Pallete and washed her whole eye with the lightest color. Then, I took a stronger brown and put that in the crease. I lined her eyes with a black pencil, and then dipped a sephora smuge brush into the dark purple. I smudged along the top lash line over the black with the purple. Next, wash the light purple color on the inner corners and finish with two coats of black mascara. I also added a little pink to the cheeks and finished with a nice gloss to keep it light and wearable. Pretty!

So for myself, I tend to wear winged liner a lot, so I’m a bit of a pro at it. But, for make up newbies, this dramatic liner can be daunting. I recommend starting with a gel liner and an angled brush instead of buying the ink wells or felt tip liners. I think you have more control if you have a nice stiff brush in your hand.

Secondly, a perfect face highlights the eyes in my opinion. Of course, good skin always comes from a beauty regimn. If you don’t have one – I suggest hitting up the beauty counters, salons or a specialty store like Sephora or Ulta. I personally use BeautiControl BC Spa Facial Set and it works well for me.

I started with some moisturizer and then BB Cream. Next mix two drops of the Benefit High Beam with the Amazonian Clay foundation. We want to add a little brightness to keep the look fresh and not fifities. I also hid the dark circles with CoverGirl & Olay under eye concealer. Then, I took an airbrush foundation brush and swirled it around to blend for a soft look.

I primed my lids with a color similar to my skin tone so that it acted as a concealer. I then washed the lightest color from the bareminerals compact onto my lids from lash line to brow bone. Keep it neutral here, kids!

Now comes the fun part. Dip the angled brush into the gel liner. Draw the line on thin close to the lash line and end where you lashes end. Then, following the bottom curve of your eye, draw the liner up and out. This helps you wing the liner in the right direction. You’re probably looking a little funny right now, but just keep making your line thicker and thicker until you fill in the space between your eye and the wing.

Here are five trends you'd better get out of your system now!

I topped the look with two coats of L’Oreal’s Volumnious Carbon Black mascara (my personal all time fave) and chapstick. Yes, plain ‘ol chapstick. I also used an angled blush brush and shaded in some cheekbones with Lovejoy from NARS just for some color on my pasty Ohio skin. I’m sure it’s hard to see the wings in my photo, but my soon-to-be-31-in-September face is hiding them in my squinty-eye lines.

Remember, I kept these looks intentionally not over-the-top so they are wearable during the day. Feel free to intensify the looks with bolder brighter color. But, I wanted to keep each look with the fresh-faced feeling that dotted the runways.

Hope these two fall looks float your boat.

\Will you try these? What fall makeup trends are you looking forward to trying?

I love it all! But I almost never wear make-up... I want too, but I have these dark circles around my eyes and I still haven't learned how to camouflage those! And with make-up I only seem to make it worse :(

I've been sporting the fresh face look for a couple of months now. It's just been so hot outside, I never feel like wearing anything other than some light foundation, blush and mascara (and sometimes some eyeshadow from the Too Faced Natural Palette). I used to wear the smokey eyes look whenever I went clubbing but I've switched to the winged liner look recently. It looks more natural in my opinion and it takes less time to achieve it.

I love the winged liner look. It takes some patience, but so worth it!
