    Consigning Your Life Away

I was never big into consignment until I actually consigned some clothing of my own. And, now I'm addicted. It's a high when you check your account online and see that you're actually making some money back from clothing that you once loved, but just don't love anymore.

What is a consignment shop? A "consignment shop" is a second-hand shop in which the shop owner (consignee) pays the owner of the item (consignor) a portion of the proceeds of the sale. The consignor still owns the item while it’s in the shop so they won’t get paid until and unless the item sells.

The place I go, Second Time Around, is picky and they don't accept everything. They take great pride in only displaying gently worn clothing, and brand names. It's pretty cool when you can find a great deal on a Chanel purse, or a pair of NEW premium denim jeans at half the price. You never know what you’ll find. That’s part of the fun!

Check out Boston Kelly's favorite pretty stuff!

If you’re nowhere near a Second Time Around, there are consignment stores in every town. You’ve probably driven by them a hundred times and never stopped. If you type in “consignment” on Yelp, you should be able to find one near you and check the user reviews to see if they’ll give you a good deal.

What do you do with your used clothes? Have you ever tried selling them through consignment?

I suspect this works better for women than men. We usually wear our stuff until it's falling apart or while we're changing the oil in our car or painting the house.

I love the consignment shops! I visit them frequently to look for things and put stuff in on consignment. They are fun to look through never know what treasures you might find.
