Last year my husband and my friends joined in a conspiracy to surprise me for my Birthday, and it was a great success. Not only was I totally surprised, I got a boa and a tiara! Here’s proof:

This year, my birthday (Feb 10th) will be no-fuss because I’ll be on set filming Walk of Shame. I am planning to treat myself and my crew to some delish ice-cream sandwiches courtesy of Cool Haus.

Speaking of birthdays, my friend Missy wrote a brilliant blog about what it’s like for ladies in her position after her birthday party. I read it for smiles. You can too here.
Anyway, with my birthday coming up quickly, I thought I’d reminisce and share about some birthday things of my birthdays past:
My best birthday ever…

… involved being in love, in Paris, and being 25 (more to come on that later). However, my most memorable birthday PARTY was when I turned 16. My sweet sixteen surprise party was at the Hard Rock Café in Boston. Which was a pretty big deal at the time.
The best birthday gift I ever received…

…was from my husband. We were at an art show in Pittsburgh and I mentioned that I liked a particular piece… and he was listening because it showed up a month later. It was a combo Valentine’s Day-birthday gift.
Ok, now your turn to share.
What has been your best birthday ever or what was the best birthday gift you ever received?
I will post the best answers here next week.
Also…
What sweets should I make/buy/request for my birthday?
Sharing our Valentine’s Day plans soon…
UPDATE: 7 BEST BIRTHDAYS
Chrissy: My most memorable and favorite birthday was my 25th (last year). My boyfriend of 3 years took me out to dinner with his sister and her new bf, who were in town visiting from LA. It was at least a week or two before my birthday so I was not suspecting any foul play, just expecting a nice early bday dinner at my favorite restaurant. ...he pulled out the ring and asked me if I would be his forever. Of course I started crying immediately and said yes. He said "good, now get it together because there's a surprise bday party for you upstairs with all your friends and family waiting for you!" I got engaged and a surprise birthday party all at once :)
ClaireB: My best birthday gift was my oldest son Owen who was born on my birthday. 4 years on he lights up my life everyday.
KareBear#3: My favorite and most memorable birthday ever was when I turned 13. My mom let my two sisters and I (I'm a triplet) each invite two friends to a girls-night-out/salon birthday party. We each got our hair, makeup and nails done, danced to boy band music and stuffed our faces with pizza and cupcakes! It was the perfect party for any thirteen year old girl.
IV Klink: I had a sucky 19th birthday because my boyfriend told me he was going to spend his birthday (one week after mine) going to a concert with another girl. My best birthday present was meeting my future husband the night my future ex-boyfriend was enjoying his birthday concert.
Twyla: My best birthday has been this year when I turned 16 (on February 5th!) because my older brother, who is in the military, made a Facebook status (charming I know) wishing me a happy birthday and threatening to fly back home if any of my- *ahem* -future boyfriends gave me trouble.
RoxyHarmon: I think my best birthday was my 16th as well. I didn't want a huge party, so my mom and I went shopping and I got to pick out 16 gifts. Well, mostly. If a gift was over a certain price, it would count as two. It was really nice to just spend time with my mom instead of having a party.
Elvira: I had my best present when I turned 18. Which is a bit of a sensitive subject... but it was the first time (and last) that my biological parents came to my birthday.(I grew up in a foster family)To me, it was the best day ever! :)

The best birthday present was a gift I received as a 7 year old when my parents gave me a Barbie record player. That magnificent toy gave me independence, creative control, and launched a love of music that persists to this day. I started with a mere 3 records - My Fair Lady, a record of French songs performed by a children's chorus, and a recording of the Hobbit that I played over and over again. God only knows how or why my mother chose that combination, but it was brilliant. That selection cultivated a deep and lasting relationship with musicals, fantasy, theater, and different cultures. Best. Present. Ever. -

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!! :)
My most memorable and favorite birthday was my 25th (last year). My boyfriend of 3 years took me out to dinner with his sister and her new bf, who were in town visiting from LA. It was at least a week or two before my birthday so I was not suspecting any foul play, just expecting a nice early bday dinner at my favorite restaurant.
After dinner, I excused myself to use the restroom and when I got back my boyfriend was alone at the table. I really didn't think much of it so I didn't say anything about it. He started rambling on about how much he loved me, he tends to do this every time he's had a little too much to drink, so again I did not suspect anything. I started scanning the room and quickly realized there were not many others in the restaurant but that the ones who were there were all staring at me, even the bar tenders. When I finally looked at my boyfriend he was pulling something out of his pocket saying "this should explain it better" and he pulled out the ring and asked me if I would be his forever. Of course I started crying immediately and said yes. He said "good, now get it together because there's a surprise bday party for you upstairs with all your friends and family waiting for you!" I got engaged and a surprise birthday party all at once :) -
Happy B-Day Elizabeth... I think one of the best gifts I ever had... was celebrating my 40th in Las Vegas at the Aladdin Hotel, with a few friends and while my best friend and I were walking towards the MGM Grand, he pointed behind me, when I looked back , there was my name on the billboard facing the busy intersection. IT WAS HUGE!! while initally denying it, I did find that there was no one entertaining while we were there or in the upcoming months with my name... so my name flashed across Las Vegas was pretty cool indeed. -

I had a sucky 19th birthday because my boyfriend told me he was going to spend his birthday (one week after mine) going to a concert with another girl. My best birthday present was meeting my future husband the night my future ex-boyfriend was enjoying his birthday concert.
The kicker is that once my boyfriend found out I went to a party instead of pining away alone at home, he realized he had made a big mistake. By then it was too late. When I met my husband it was love at first sight. Best present ever! -
I have to copy cat Jessica Hall's answer as my best birthday gift was also a trip to Disneyland. Mine was only for a day but it was part of the deal when I told my boyfriend I would move to California with him. No Disney, No Dice. The best present from the cosmos was when I brought my battered 25 year old Pooh Bear along and as the rain settled in all the characters but one had to be hustled inside. The one? Pooh Bear. So my Pooh got to meet Pooh and he cradled him like a tiny baby. It was incredible. Best part of being a grown up.
As for sweets, I don't think any birthday is complete without fruit tarts of various sizes. -

I'd like to hear more about this Paris birthday of yours. It sounds amazing! J'adore Paris.
My best birthday? I have a pretty great birthday every year. I think my 18th was my favourite because it was one long celebration with friends and family over a few days. Not to mention being able to legally drink alcohol. ;) -
My best birthday has been this year when I turned 16 (on February 5th!) because my older brother, who is in the military, made a Facebook status (charming I know) wishing me a happy birthday and threatening to fly back home if any of my- *ahem* -future boyfriends gave me trouble. We've both been through a lot these past couple years and I am so glad to have him watching out for me! It was a small gesture but truly the best gift I received and I'm looking forward to making even more exciting birthday memories! xo -
the best birthday i had was when my husband surprised me and took me to disneyland for memorial weekend 4 years ago. -

Best Birthday: My 21st Birthday
I was on exchange in Sunderland, England. My parents and sister flew into Glasgow, Scotland on my birthday (May 12); I hadn't seen them since I left Canada in January. I met them at the airport and they took me out for supper. Then we toured the UK and Ireland for 5 weeks. -
my best birthday was last year when you tweeted me '@HuffleMyPuff Happy bday!' I don't think any birthday will ever top that -
Best birthday ever, in the suite at Toronto's Rogers Centre with my extended family in Red Sox gear watching the Sox game! What a weekend! -
-
My best birthday gift was my oldest son Owen who was born on my birthday. 4 years on he lights up my life everyday. -
I think my best birthday was my 16th as well. I didn't want a huge party, so my mom and I went shopping and I got to pick out 16 gifts. Well, mostly. If a gift was over a certain price, it would count as two. It was really nice to just spend time with my mom instead of having a party. We got to talk about the different things I had started to like and talk about how I felt being 16. It was also kind of funny because I was doubting my mom the whole time and kept saying that she didn't need to do this, but she kept reassuring me that she would have spent more money on a party. I was happy with the gifts I got and the time I was able to spend with my mom and she was happy that I appreciated all she was doing for me. -
Happy Birthday Elizabeth!
Best present: A very special cake when I turned 17.

"If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.""
