I've said it before and I will say it always: ice cream sandwiches are the best-of-all-worlds dessert. And COOLHAUS makes them with style. Nina introduced me and now she gives you the deets too. Potato Chip Butterscotch cookie and Fried Chicken and Waffles ice cream. What’s not to love? Enjoy her mouthwatering words. Xx EB
I was introduced to the COOLHAUS girls a few years ago when food trucks were trending, and the thrill of the shiny silver and pink ice cream truck was brand new. The people behind COOLHAUS were fellow ladies as well as lovers of architecture and food, with the genius to combine the two!
Now, they have their brick and mortar Culver City location, where you get to make up your own ice cream and topping combos. It can be a little overwhelming at first, but luckily they’re very liberal with their samples.
My favorite flavors are Meyer Lemon Ice Cream with ginger cookie – aka the Richard Meyer Lemon Ginger Sandwich. I also love the Dirty Mint Ice Cream with chocolate chip cookie – aka the Mintimalism Sandwich.
The best news of all is Coolhaus is available nationally. They have trucks in LA, New York, Austin and Dallas, and their ice cream is available in 300 gourmet markets in 19 states, including all of the West Coast Whole Foods stores.
Follow them on Twitter @COOLHAUS and if you live in LA, check out their Culver City store!
What’s your favorite food truck?
Share in the comments so I can check it out!

Hey Everybody! C'mon! C'mon! Clap your hands! Throw 'em in the air, and come to PORTLAND, OREGON. There are food trucks everywhere, and they are all crazy-delicious. Big Ass Sandwiches is a favorite. Portland knows how to feed their city... WOO, PORTLAND! THANKYOUGOODNIGHT! -
Sounds amazing...We don't have one around here. But, Cleveland is becoming quite notorious for their food scene - hello Michael Symon! So, the should put on here next!!!! -
Wow Nina! I really need to check that out. That lemon ginger sandwich sounds amazing. In Philly, we have this amazing little crepe truck on my school's campus. It's called "La Dominique Creperie." The owner/chef is a former sculptor. He's such a nice guy and he treats each order like a work of art. It's really unique. (Think "a little touch of Europe in the middle of the city" sort of thing). And the Strawberry-Banana-Nutella crepe is to die for.
